We have been steadily rolling out small changes to the website that improves the quality of the content.
The following things were added to the website:
- Created a Reddit comment bot, that automatically tells you information about a community gamemap, and how to play on servers that have that map running.
- Created the page TOP 20 TF2 videos of 2018.
- Created the page TOP Creators by video views, which lists the top 20 creators each year, by most views for their Team Fortress 2 videos.
- Created a new Server list called "Madness vs Machines", for the event that was announced on the Team Fortress 2 Blog.
And we have changed/updated the following things:
- Fixed thumbnail matching in Community Quickplay, to be more accurate than before.
- Metadata scraping (thumbnails, gamemodes, competitive servers determination for Community Quickplay) was executed manually. This means that we now have a list of the most recent community maps, and their images. We've also re-ran our screenshot generator with some fixes to delete incorrect images.
- Changed the Serverlist style to be more to-the-point. The header is now incorporated into the sidebar, and there is more room for a description. The filters are placed to the bottom of the page.
- Fixed several visual issues on Mobile, that caused the page layout to be wrong.
- Removed a lot of server communities that died out, and were still present in the "Server Communities" page.
- Implemented rate-limiting in the API, as some people were abusing it.
- Added several optimisations and caching mechanisms to improve load times. During the last few months, traffic almost doubled which caused very slow loading times.
