2fort is by far one of the most iconic maps in Team Fortress 2. Parts of the map were already revealed in the TF2 trailer, published before the launch of TF2 in 2007. But the history of ctf_2fort goes even further back, as the map was already played on in Team Fortress Classic.

But the story does not end there. As of today, ctf_2fort remains to be one of the most popular maps in TF2, played by thousands of players everyday. Considering this map is so iconic to TF2, it had several versions published with small visual/mechanic updates. We compiled a small list of those different type of 2fort maps out there! We've added photo spheres for every map, so you can get a taste of the map.

ctf_2fort_invasion

The Invasion update was a community update which launched in October 2015. Besides new cosmetics in Alien style, it also came with 4 new maps. One of those maps was an alien 2fort, which flying saucers and the two bases converted to labs dedicated to studying the alien lifeforms. It is the most known 2fort alteration, because it was in Casual rotation till the Meet Your Match update dropped.

ctf_2fooooooooooooooooort and other jokes

What started as a joke map on the Steam workshop, ended up into a wide selection of "joke" maps. Origins are unclear, but it seems that a 50 floor orange map started the ordeal back in March 2017 after someone posted it on Reddit. Quickly, new joke maps were released, such as ctf_turrrrbine (more turbines), plr_highertower (very high tower), ctf_2bine (mix of 2fort and turbine) and so on.

Of course 2fort couldn't miss out on this hype, which spawned us 3 interesting variations on the map: ctf_2fooooooooooooooooort, ctf_2fort_twisted and ctf_2fort_bridgeless. The maps either got their bridge expanded, twisted or removed all together from the map. Words can't really express the ordeal, you it's best you check it yourself in the images.

ctf_2fort at sunrise, evening and at night

Digging back a bit further in history, we encountered three maps that provide a different atmosphere. I always loved playing on plr_nightfall, because of the light rain and atmosphere (being in the evening). These maps try to achieve the same effect, either by being night/evening or morning.

collapsed roofs and dead bodies in ctf_2fort_2012_night

Collapsed roofs, dead bodies, sparks from broken electricity wires, graffiti on the walls. All these are signs of an apocalypse that happened, something that also can be seen when you walk through the map. If you like this vibe, you should try out this map sometime.

ctf_2fortclassic

The current ctf_2fort map in the game, is a slightly different version compared to the one that launched in 2007. If you look at the trailer, you can see that there is no roof on the bridge, but the modern 2fort map does have one. If you want to play on the classic map, you should try out this one.

ctf_2fort_snowy

A relatively new addition, is a snowy version of ctf_2fort. Looking at the style, it reassembles some snow elements from barnblitz.
